Troubleshooting
Fix browser storage and cookie blockers
Check Chrome privacy, third-party cookie, extension, and school filter settings when TAC links cannot stay signed in or load playback.
Last updated June 1, 2026
Use this guide when TAC links open but cannot stay signed in, the inline player keeps asking you to sign in, or playback fails only inside a classroom tool, LMS, embedded frame, or privacy-restricted browser session.
Quick checks
- Open the TAC link in a normal Chrome tab. Incognito windows and embedded LMS previews often block cookies, storage, or extension access.
-
Allow site data for Talk & Comment. In Chrome settings, make sure
talkandcomment.comand your school-approved TAC domains can store cookies and site data. - Check third-party cookie blocking. If your browser blocks third-party cookies by default, allow TAC on the classroom, Docs, Slides, or LMS pages where students listen.
- Temporarily pause privacy extensions. Ad blockers, tracker blockers, and strict privacy extensions can block the player, audio file, or sign-in handoff.
- Refresh after changing settings. Reopen the Docs, Slides, Classroom, or LMS page after changing cookie or extension permissions.
Managed school devices
On school-managed Chromebooks, teachers and students may not be able to change these settings themselves. Send your IT team the school IT setup guide and ask them to confirm:
- Chrome allows TAC extension scripts on the learning sites you use
- TAC domains are not blocked by web filters
- cookies and local storage are allowed for TAC playback and sign-in
- audio file requests are allowed on student networks
Google Docs, Slides, and Classroom
If an inline player does not appear after paste, first confirm that the link itself opens in a normal Chrome tab. If the direct link works but the embedded player does not, the page may be blocking extension or storage access. Use the direct link while IT checks the browser policy.
For copied Google Slides assignments, remember that Make a copy for each student does not copy comments. Put the TAC link in Speaker Notes or on-slide text when students need a reliable copy.
What to include when contacting support
If TAC still cannot load or stay signed in, include:
- the TAC link you are testing
- whether the problem happens in a direct tab, Google Docs, Google Slides, Classroom, or an LMS
- whether the browser blocks third-party cookies
- whether the device is school-managed
- the exact error or screenshot students see
