Troubleshooting
Inline player not showing after paste
Fix paste-to-player rendering when a TAC link stays as plain text in Docs, Slides, Classroom, or another page.
Last updated June 1, 2026
TAC links work as normal links everywhere. The inline player appears only when the page, browser, and extension can convert the pasted TAC link into a player.
First checks
- Make sure the extension is installed and enabled.
- Refresh the page after installing. Pages opened before install may not have the TAC content script loaded yet.
- Paste the full link. The player will not render from partial text or a shortened link that hides the TAC URL.
- Wait a moment after upload. If the upload just finished, give the page a few seconds before pasting.
- Try a new comment or text area. Some editors sanitize pasted content differently in old comments.
Google Docs, Slides, and Classroom
- In Google Docs, paste the TAC link into a comment or the document body.
- In Google Slides, use speaker notes or an on-slide text box when you need the link to survive "Make a copy for each student."
- In Google Classroom, paste the link into a private comment or assignment instructions.
If a link remains plain text, students can still click it and listen in the browser. Inline rendering is a convenience, not a requirement for playback.
Common causes
- the extension is disabled on the current site
- the page was opened before installing or updating TAC
- the browser blocks extensions on that page
- third-party cookies or browser storage are blocked for TAC on the current page
- the link is inside an editor that does not allow embedded previews
- the student is viewing a copied Slides deck where comments were not copied
If sign-in, playback, or player rendering fails only inside an embedded classroom or LMS page, check the browser storage and cookie blocker guide.
When to use plain links
Use a plain TAC link when you need the safest workflow across student devices, LMS pages, or copied templates. The listener does not need the extension to open the link.
