Sharing and listening permissions

TAC is designed so teachers can record quickly and share a link that students can open in the browser.

Who can listen?

Anyone with the TAC link can open the player page unless your school or network blocks access. Students do not need the Chrome extension just to listen.

Treat TAC links like any other classroom feedback link:

• share them only with the intended student, class, or group
• avoid putting sensitive student information in the recording title or surrounding text
• use private comments for individual feedback
• use class comments or assignment instructions only for feedback meant for everyone

When is the extension required?

The extension is needed to record quickly and to render TAC links as inline players on supported pages. It is not required for basic listening.

Teachers usually need the extension. Students only need it if the school wants students to record their own voice notes.

Safe sharing patterns

• Individual feedback: paste the link into a private comment or a student-specific document.
• Whole-class instructions: paste the link into assignment instructions or a shared document.
• Google Slides assignments: put links in speaker notes or on-slide text if students will receive copied decks.
• LMS pages: use a plain TAC link when the LMS blocks embedded previews.

If a student cannot open a link

Ask them to:

1. open the link in Chrome
2. try outside the LMS preview pane
3. refresh once
4. check with a teacher if the device is school-managed
